Unfortunately I check my size according to the chart and finally the pants are big...Fit just rightIf you’ve worn these before Latest model is missing the right change/phone pocket heretofore on these pants. If you haven’t they are still a useful pair of pants, but I do miss the extra pocket. They wear well are comfortable plus pockets to help you get organized. I’m a 33 waist but 32 fits better than 34. Sizes are limited if you have a 30” inseam and you may well have to get a longer pair and have them shortened.Seems a little lighter and less rugged than the 20ish year old pair l have hanging in my closet.Pants are well made, but the waist size is at least 1 size too smallThe ULTIMATE pants.Cotton canvas. Roomy fit. Pockets up the ying-yang. And, a woven strap on the back right to hold your gloves and hat.Forget about everything else. Buy one of every color before they raise the price again. Enjoy comfort. There really isn't anything I don't like about these pants except, that they don't make this design in a different material that doesn't wrinkle! It's a great material for durability and everything else, but it wrinkles terribly and I hate ironing! They can look pretty bad if you don't iron them frequently. I love all the pockets! It saves me from having to carry a murse (man purse) everywhere I go. I work as a research and development engineering technician, and I can easily carry on me most of what I will need in a day, tool wise, that will allow me to complete a job without needing to lug a tool bag around. These pants are comfortable, rugged, and I never have to fear splitting my pants out like I used to happen too frequently with regular old carpenter jeans. The pockets are deep and reinforced to handle clipping on a knife, tape measure, multi-tools, etc., without wearing out the openings at the corner edges of the pocket or the bottom of the pocket. 511 Tactical carries numerous kinds of pants, but this is the only design I like, but for some reason they won't make this pant design with a different material, I don't understand that!? I love some of the other pant materials they have that don't wrinkle and are just as tough, but none of the other designs they have fit me very well and their pocket layout isn't as good as this design. I'm confused! Somebody from 511 tactical, please tell me why you will not make this pant design with your more premium, Teflon coated, rip-stop, or other nicer wrinkle free materials other than the heavy wrinkly cotton? I need these pants to look good as I am constantly between working the shop floor, touring VIP's through development and production areas, or standing in front of VIP's making presentations and dealing with management. The pants need to serve multiple purposes and these really only cover the rugged aspect well. Please let me know when you have these pants available in a different material!!! I'll buy a dozen of them in every color possible!!!I have been wearing 5.11 clothing since 2007 whilst working in Afghanistan, a hot and arid climate in the summer and a sub zero climate in the Kabul mountains during winter until present day whilst working in Kazakhstan in similar temperature and climate differences as well as in Myanmar jungles, Iraq deserts and in the tropical lushness of Guam. Why ….because 5.11 make tough breathable clothing that wears well and doesn't fall apart in extreme conditions .Comfortable clothes ,some stretchy and light, other tough and windproof and warm, pretty much covering the extremes you will face working both at home and overseas.I will continue to buy 5.11 clothing ,in fact I will be ordering the long sleeve polo shirts again soon as they are perfect for a base layer in Kazakhstan winters under the heavy fleece lined coats I wear, a main complaint I hear is that they are expensive...which is a crap argument you are paying for quality and tough clothing not a flimsy fashion item.read the reports on this brand and buy the clothing, you will be impressed and happy....buy the way the trousers (pants) will last you for ever. You will end up throwing them out because they are old and you replaced them with newer ones over that the wore out...either that or you got fat and they no longer fit. Best work trousers on the market without a shadow of doubt. I am a happy return customer who will keep buying this brand.I have several pairs of the Covert Cargo Pants but when trying to buy some more could not get them anywhere. I decided by my previous purchases of 511 cargo pants to go for the Tactical pants, mostly because they are 100% cotton like the Old Covert Cargo Pants I’ve owned, all the other 511 range of cargo style pants don’t seem to be a 100% cotton and that is a must for me. The Tactical pants are very similar to the Old Covert pants apart from the pocket arrangements,I prefer the Covert Cargo Pants on the pocket arrangements. The Tactical pants are very comfortable just like the Covert pants and the fit is excellent just like the Covert Cargo Pants,I am a 36W x 32L and they fit just right. It’s a shame if 511 have discontinued the Old Covert Cargo Pants but as long as they keep making the 100% cotton Tactical pants they will do me as a replacement as I wear them all the time.I work in retail security on nights and therefore do a bit of shelf-packing when there are no demanding customers in the shop so I end up kneeling for a fair amount of the time. I bought two pairs of these around 18 months ago (first one, then I was so impressed, I bought a second pair) and wear them five nights a week at work so in effect, it is like continuous, 40 hours/week wear for 9 months. They are the best wearing trousers I have ever had in this job. They are extremely well built and the rather understated D-ring is on mine, welded so it will never open so I keep my Smart Pass and SIA badges on that. The diagonally-opening pockets are very good for quick access and I keep my handcuffs in one of them - quick access no visibility - if you see my handcuffs, it is because you are going to be wearing them. The small, long pocket on the left is ideal for pens (two normal, one fne marker for writing on CCTV photographs and a UV pen, along with a UV torch that goes in there as well) and the larger pockets below them are off to one side so I keep my pocket notebook in one of those. The belt holes will take wider belts (50mm) which takes the Peter Jones Klick Fast dock without mofing around on which I have my two-way radio. In short, they are well built, last ages, provide you with the pockets you need and are worth every penny. After all that time, I about to order some more.I have still got the very first 5.11 trousers that I bought back in 2009 and they are still going strong. Nothing has come apart or failed. I have since bought dozens and they have all been great. I had also tried the lighter Taclite versions, but found them rather plasticky by comparison. Others have complained here and elsewhere that they are heavy and baggy, but I tend to find that if you get one size smaller than your usual trousers, they would be just nice and snug and the elasticated waist would do its job. Yes, if you fill all the pockets with kit, like I sometimes do, you will need a belt to keep it from ending up around your ankles. I just bought another pair, minutes ago. So, that's my take. Not overall satisfied as opened this and had a patch of glue that’s harden and stuck on the trousers furthermore the delivery arrived very late!I first came across 5.11 when working overseas. these are rather heavy but having had 5.11 before these will last years. very well made, price reflects quality.
